Saturday March 30th had some pretty good North / Northwest winds with small waves at Wiggins Pass State Park. I rigged a 6.4 sail and started out riding the Exocet WindSUP 11'8". When the wind picked up I switched to a smaller board, the Exocet Cross 106. The other windsurfer is Dr. Alex Owens. The music in the video is by The Qemists.
@William- The wind was around 15 knots. A little less at first, and a little more by the end of the session. Ya, I'd had that song stuck in my head so I had to put it in the video.
@Jeff- Thanks, man. The 11'8 can really move.
@Bryn- The smaller board is more maneuverable and lighter feeling, which allows you to do sharp turns and jumps and stuff that you can't do on the windsup with any size sail. The downside of the small board is that the wind has to be quite strong for it to work. I've never used one of the special WindSUP sails. I've heard they work well in light wind but not so great in strong wind.
I agree with what you heard, but am always looking for new opinions.
I have a 5.8 and 4.8 Aerotech WindSUP sail and when the wind is really blowing I am over powered.
They are also not for fast cruising like you were doing, but they are great for light wind surfing. They get you out of the waves fast and make it easy to catch a wave. Right now they are the sail I use most because I am doing all surfing and they are so light and easy to rig.
Thanks for the vid James. My Exocet Windsup 10' is pretty much all I ride these days, from powered up 6.5 to 10m. I call it the swiss army knife of water sports...
I have a couple of slots on this page where ad banners appear. However, the ads that appear in those slots are automatically generated and not necessarily approved by me. Sometimes they promote things that I actively dislike, like fertilizers and herbicides. If you see an ad on my blog that you don't think I would agree with, let me know the details on it and I'll try to block it. Thanks!

Water looked pretty flat at the beginning but the board seemed to be moving pretty well. How much wind did you have?
btw, nice choice on the tunes.
looks like you had more fun on the short board but the big 11'8 was moving pretty nicely too!
Curious on the wind speed too and why the smaller board with more wind vs. just a smaller sail with the WindSUP Board?
One other question, do you ever use one of the WindSUP sails with that WindSUP Board?
Just wondering how they compare to riding with a regular sail?

Thanks James, good to know.
