My folks bought me plane tickets to Columbus, Ohio to visit my sister Anna and to spend some "uncle time" with my 7 week old niece, Ayla. Anna is in the last stages of completing her graduate thesis, so upon my arrival I was immediately pressed into "nanny duty" to give her some free time to write. I don't know anything about babies, but in the last 24 hours I've been learning fast how to feed 'em, burp 'em, change their nasty diapers, and walk them around so they'll shut up. I can't believe how much work it is. Fortunately Ayla is cute enough that I don't mind.
Aww...

That's a very cute niece! What size sail are you starting her on?
Is everyone in your family a graduate student?
Man what a nice uncle to sleep on!
Cute baby
Better watch out. You're daddy genes might get activated. Then you'll end up with a blog all about your kids playing baseball.
Dad- Yep, she's cute. I think I'll put her on a 2.0 meter sail... in about 8 years.
Frank- Yeah, it's funny that both Anna and I are grad students. She's going to finish a couple months before me. :)
Scooper- Ayla definitely brought out my uncle genes. But my daddy genes are still playing it cool with my lazy genes.
This is great. Now that you have experience with kids, I can just drop mine off with you anytime, right? Very cute though.
Oh and you might want to find a bride BEFORE you fire up the daddy genes. It helps alleviate the shotgun wedding gene..
kick ass!
Congratulations! The first niece I held as an infant stopped by today with her sister and mother to visit. She's now 12 and as tall as my wife!
Being an uncle is great fun...the nieces and nephews are rent-a-kids!
Once again, congratulations!
